Pinhole Photography 2015

Outcomes of the project

Aims of the project:

  • To encourage people with mental health issues, disadvantaged people and the local community to work together towards a common goal.

  • To teach participants a basic understanding of traditional photographic techniques.

  • To encourage physical health by seeking out photographic opportunities in Sunderland.

  • To boost confidence and self esteem through working together.

  • To raise the profile of the project and The Art Studio through promotion and social media. Including encouraging interaction with the project through online platforms.

  • To engage 80+ people through workshops, the exhibition and online.

What has the project achieved?

We have delivered 18 Pin Hole Photography workshops in the Sunderland area. We had 161 people who participated in Look and Inspire workshops producing 426 images in total. With a total engagement on Facebook of over 3700 people who saw or interacted with the social media posts.

We had excellent write-ups in regional and local press. (See links below for details). Our exhibition opening day had 40 attendees and we continued to inspire people throughout the exhibition which was recorded through the comment cards that people filled in. Off the back of the project in 2015 we have gained funding to extend the project into new areas of Sunderland in 2016.

THE Workshop
